Welcome to Jamaica Inn!
Many curiosities lie within.
A roaring fire most inviting,
And history worth forever writing.
Sinister whispers in foreign tongue,
once the deep dark night has begun,
footsteps walk the corridor,
Jamaica Inn on Bodmin moor!
Travellers who smuggle gin ashore
stop by the inn at Bolventor,
to rest their souls till they awake,
then away to Devon they escape!

Tessy writes engagingly. Dashes of wit, sprinklings of geographical nous and personal experience. Her style is both unique and familiar. I like to dip into Travels with Tessy whilst on my own jaunts. If only she could document my travels with her eloquent delivery.Well worth the read and one to keep going back to.
Beautifully written poems, this book is an absolute joy it would make a great gift for anyone who lives/loves the West Country. Travels with Tessy gives such an honest insight to growing up in an interesting, beautiful, but challenging landscape. There are so many recognisable locations that are covered. It was my first poetry book I’d bought and I loved it.
Tessy writes touching and evocative poetry.I would heartily recommend this book to anyone who knows and loves the English West Country as her writing really captures the spirit of the place. The poems filled me with nostalgia for the area, numerous visits at all stages of my life and my late mother who loved the area and lived in South Devon for many years. The photographs were a nice addition to this gem of a book,
Loved this book. Also follow author on her lovely Instagram site. You should read if you wish for a more individual and interesting read. Wonderful tales and wanting you to read more.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book of insightful poetry and personal experiences of Cornwall and beyond. It’s clear that the Author loves and indeed yearns for the South West and I can understand why as I live there. Touching lightly on myth and legend, the narrative also drifts in to 16th century drama and includes some beautiful pictures.

'White horses, green fields and blue skies' is a collection of evocative poetry inspired by the captivating and picturesque English Countryside.Throughout the featured poetry the author delightfully showcases the Wiltshire scenery, bringing the famous Wiltshire White Horses to life. Other places in England are also celebrated, such as Portsmouth, Dartmoor, South Wales and the Lake District among other wonderful locations that have inspired the author through their travels.Interestingly this poetry has also been influenced by the author's love of discovering history through metal detecting in the green fields of Wiltshire and beyond. If you're looking for a poetry book to escape into, then this collection is made for you, whether you're familiar with these places or not. Tessy Braun will take you on a journey with hope that her words will lead you to discover the beauty of the region wherever you are in the world.
So beautifully written. Tessy writes in such a way that paints a vivid picture in your mind of each place that she has journeyed to, making you feel like you are there also. Moving through, Wiltshire, Devon, Cornwall to The North Yorkshire Moors and more! I was drawn in right from the start to the final page. My favourite poems were 'The Jackdaw', 'Stargazer' and the 'Uffington White Horse', given that I am also fascinated by land art such as the Chalk White Horse's which can be found on various hill slope spots up and down the UK, though I loved them all so much! I highly recommend this book.
I’ve always loved Tessy’s poetry and this collection didn’t disappoint. Tessy explores a variety of styles in this book, both rhyming and non-rhyming. The poems are connected to her travels and adventures. Among my favourites are A Dartmoor Misty Morn, The Call of the Jackdaw and Stargazer. Definitely a beautiful collection to own. Highly recommended.
This is the loveliest little collection of poems to dip into.Whether you love the English (and Welsh, in one case) countryside as much as I do or would like to discover it from the comfort of your armchair, Tessy's words leave you with the salty tang of the sea on your lips, the crunch of gravel or squelch of mud beneath your feet, or the winds of the southern uplands brushing through your hair. This book took me back to familiar haunts and made me long to explore new spaces. What a gift, to be able to paint such glorious pictures with words! Whether she is describing the excitement of metal detecting in a ploughed field or a family day at the beach, the poet takes you there with her.Highly recommended.
Tessy writes with a sensitivity and profound sense of place interspersed with a charming quirkiness. Her love of these poetic locations shines through each work. She shows a delightful turn of phrase; for example " for now the country is wrapped with care in a brown paper bag" and " I gasp out loud in shock to seethe night sky pouring over me."Meanwhile the White Horses gambol through this collection guiding the reader on this highly recommended poetical journey. There is fodder for all in this little book.
A delightful and beautiful poetry book.As always, Tessy writes her poetry with flair. It’s so refreshing to read a poetry book that is written with intelligence and depth. I love hearing about Tessy’s travels, and the book is personal and beautiful.Make sure that you grab yourselves a copy, it’s reasonably priced and free on kindle unlimited.
Today was peaceful, just the three of us.
The sun shining, and the breeze welcome
as we walked from Norton Bevant
to the ridgeway, strewn with buttercups,
daisies and forget-me-nots.
And I think of him for quite some time,
whilst absorbing the view
of the Wiltshire Countryside.
Today was green, the fields full of the hue.
We climbed up the ridgeway,
serenaded by the clip clop of a horse,
the bark of a dog, and the bray of a pony.
The little one leapt from one mossy mound
to another, full of cheer about the long grass,
and I smile to see you hand in hand
pointing out the bird of prey
looking for his next meal.
'Open Book' is a collection of poetry exploring a range of themes including love, heartbreak, abuse, depression, parenting and loss. 'Open Book' is a raw and emotional glimpse into the life of an ambitious single mother faced with heartbreak, depression and grief. As well as tackling the more serious subjects you'll also find uplifting, positive poetry within this collection and also a small number of love poems of a sensual nature. In addition Tessy demonstrates her love of story telling with a chapter entirely dedicated to imagination. Tessy reveals her innermost emotions and private experiences in 'Open Book' and invites you into her most intimate and personal thoughts, with the hope that you can draw strength and inspiration from her words.
No, I did not buy the honey.
Condemning me, condemning me.
Stripped the bed to try to help,
was not worth the anguish felt.
Sisters under so much stress
Trying to do what is best.
No, I did not buy the honey,
condemning me, condemning me.
Open book is Tessy Braun’s most recent poetry book. It’s personal and gritty, and feels like a window to her soul. The book was moving and well penned focusing on serious subjects such as unhealthy relationships and time slipping through our fingers. ‘My Dad In A Box’ really got to me, I remember going to see my Gramps in the funeral parlour when I was 14 and I honestly wish I hadn’t. It was extremely relatable.
"Open Book" is an emotional roller coaster. From funny tales, to love, heart break, abuse, and loss. I loved every word and every line! I can't wait to read more of Tessy's work!
Fascinating collection of poems guaranteed to move you and inspire you. Tessy has bared her soul in this impressive book.

Inspired by a lifelong fascination of the Tudor dynasty and countless visits to historic locations such as Hampton Court Palace, the author brings to life the voices of Henry VIII’s six wives.
Each poem, routed in historical truth, offers a powerful and intimate glimpse into the fate of these iconic Queens.
You were my good Lord
and handsome you once were,
though your affection over me
had caused quite some stir.
England adored Catherine,
who was your Queen before,
and they had the audacity to call me
a ‘goggle eyed whore!’.

'The Midnight Masquerade' is an enchanting poetic story set in the woodland which explores the heart of community for children and adults a-like.
The poem opens with a mystical woodland community who have recently recovered from disaster, and are celebrating their new found freedom at the Midnight Masquerade.
Will the evening go to plan or will there be further challenges to face for Woodland Lynx and her kingdom of forest animals? 'The Midnight Masquerade' is a delightful and enchanting tale, with themes of good vs evil and the strength and power of love, and discovering your inner strength.
